Ralph Koltai

I have been looking at legendary designer Ralph Koltai, as his way of working, using lots of metal, and found objects, and big, grand, shapes in his set design, really appeals to me for this project. Here are some of the choice images I have found that I find most relevant to my design vision and my work:

Having looked at his set designs, which I found very inspiring, I then found out about his fine art work; sculptures which seem to have a huge amount of relevance to my work, especially the experiments with metal that I have been doing over the last few days.
Looking at these sculptures has made me realise that perhaps I was being a bit narrow-minded when I chose my 3 metals for which to experiment with. I knew I wanted something with a warm colour, but I hadn't considered that if I'd rusted Iron extensively enough, the colour of the rust could be warm enough to suffice. Maybe it's worth me ordering some iron sheets? But first I will research how easy it is to speed up the rusting process to the level to which Koltai has used above.
